When you visit Doc of the Bay for the first time, one of our hygenists will perform a comprehensive new patient exam to get an understanding of your oral health, and to aid Dr. Brackett in designing an individualized ongoing treatment plan to help you maintain a healthy smile.
Plan to spend about an hour and a half with our team during your first visit to our office. Dr. Brackett and our team take the time to thoroughly examine your mouth and discuss your oral health and smile goals. We give you our full attention, and focus on making sure that you understand your oral health and your treatment options, and that you feel comfortable in our office.
Your new patient exam will consist of several different examinations. These include:
- A visual exam to check your teeth and supporting structures
- A periodontal exam to evaluate the health of your gums and diagnose any gum disease that may be present
- An oral cancer screening to detect any abnormalities in your oral tissues
- Any X-rays or intraoral pictures that need to be taken, as well as any impressions or models that need to be made
Early diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease, oral cancer, and other damaging dental conditions often make treatment easier and more effective, and we want to ensure that you have every advantage possible when it comes to your oral health. Please note that your new patient exam does NOT include a dental cleaning.
We will review your results with you, and go over your treatment options at the end of your appointment. Our dentist and team are happy to discuss your concerns at any time, and we want you to feel confident that you are receiving the best treatment for your individual needs.
